COFFEE PAINTINGS

Hong Kong, December 2022

Coffee Paintings grew out of Hong Kong’s vibrant coffee culture, where cafés became part of my everyday experience of the city. I began experimenting with coffee itself as a painting material, pouring and placing it onto paper and using the cup to create rings, stains, and pools.

I allowed the coffee to spread and dry on its own, then introduced acrylic paint into and around the marks. The process became a conversation between intention and chance, allowing the materials to react to one another and unexpected forms to emerge.
