Color, gesture, and intuition became a kind of visual language during my years in Hong Kong. These works began as spontaneous explorations in pastel, allowing color and mark-making to lead rather than beginning with a predetermined image.
What started with aura portraits at psychic fairs and community events gradually moved toward abstraction. The immediacy of pastel offered a freedom I was drawn to: direct, physical, and responsive.
