Jo Hay Open Studio was part gallery, part laboratory, and part community gathering place. It was where ideas became exhibitions, paintings became conversations, and experimentation became practice. During these years I created and exhibited projects including #ARTRULES, Gay Soup, TEXT ME, and Let It Go, a painting that became my first gallery sale to an international collector.

Gay Soup began with a group of altered soup cans in my studio. What started as a playful experiment evolved into a collection of 25 individual works, available individually or as sets. The series was exhibited as part of #ARTRULES, my first group exhibition at Jo Hay Open Studio.

TEXT ME was a pop-up exhibition presented at Jo Hay Open Studio during Provincetown’s Holly Folly weekend. The show brought together a collection of my text-based paintings in a temporary installation, using fragments of language, color and repetition as both image and message.

A summer group exhibition featuring work by Jo Hay Open Studio’s twelve artists, with paintings by Dave Hay and Paul Kerepka highlighted in the exhibition. My work continued the text-based painting practice I had been developing in Provincetown, bringing language, color and graphic form together on the canvas.
